Characterization of the Preimplantation Genetic Regulatory Network

This project's objectives are to identify the hardwiring (the cis-regualtory architecture) and their associated protein complexes (transcription factors and co-activators) responsible for defining the cell types of the blastocyst.

Human ES Cells

With our preimplantation development studies we ultimately aim to improve our understanding of the human ES cell, how their pluripotency is maintained and what are the initial steps in the differentiation of these cells. In addition, with the very limited access to human early embryos, we use human ES cells to model early human development. Through these approaches we aim to define the initial steps in hESC directed differentiation in addition to identifying embryo-derived signals in implantation.
